At Kids Club, we are committed to making a positive impact in our community and believe every young child should have the right to remain clean, healthy and happy, a vision shared with The Nappy Collective, a nonprofit Australian organisation that is dedicated to collecting disposable nappies and distributing them to families in crisis or in need.
This year, The Nappy Collective are running their 10th Annual Mother’s Day Collective, and from 8-21 May, Kids Club Clarence St, Elizabeth St and Macquarie Park are 3 of over 500 locations across Australia where you can donate nappies.
The Nappy Collective works hard to support families in crisis or financial hardship, those escaping domestic violence, seeking asylum, or impacted by natural disasters. Shockingly, one in ten families, or 280,000 children, don’t have enough nappies, a situation we call “nappy stress.” Without access to nappies, little ones may experience discomfort, infections, and other issues. This scarcity can lead to discomfort, infections, and other issues for little ones.
We invite you to drop off any leftover nappies that your little ones have outgrown or no longer need at any of our participating centres. If you happen to have an opened packet of nappies that didn’t suit your baby, please know that they are still valuable to others. The Nappy Collective gladly accepts these donations and passes them on to their Community Partners. To make it easier for volunteers to sort the donations, it is requested that if you are donating individual nappies, you bundle them together in their size groups, and label a bag with the corresponding size. Your thoughtfulness and cooperation greatly assist the volunteers in this process.
“The word of mouth within our local community for this cause has been truly humbling,” expressed Luluanne Ziade, our Kids Club Macquarie Park centre Director, with immense gratitude. “We’ve been amazed by the outpouring of support from local families who have generously donated nappies. Almost every day, we’ve had someone from outside our Kids Club community dropping off nappies. The kindness and generosity we’ve witnessed are inspiring.”
