‘Tis the season of giving, and Kids Club Oakdowns and Kids Club Elizabeth St are embodying the true spirit of Christmas by engaging in heartwarming initiatives to spread joy and kindness within their communities. From handmade gifts to supporting the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal, the children and educators are demonstrating the true meaning of the season.
Kids Club Oakdowns
At Kids Club Oakdowns, the Preschool children have been busy creating special gift tags, wrapping paper, and cards to sell in the front office, with all funds raised going to those in need this Christmas. The initiative was inspired by the selfless Maddison, a young soul with a big heart, who wanted to give to those less fortunate. Maddison, through her chores and determination, raised an impressive $124.45 from her own money box, contributing to a total of $301.00 collected at the ‘handmade with love stall.’ The funds were delivered to Hobart City Mission with Maddison, her mum and dad as well as our centre Director Chloe, which will be used to provide gift hampers for those in desperate need. Maddison’s empathy, compassion, and understanding have left an indelible mark, showcasing the remarkable spirit of giving that prevails even in the youngest hearts.
Paula, our Area Manager for Kids Club Oakdowns shared that “this is what Christmas is all about. Thank you so much to Chloe and the team for how much you do to support the children and each other in courses they believe.” She went on to say “Maddison blows me away by her thoughtfulness to others. What a very special child she is.”
Kids Club Elizabeth St
Meanwhile, at Kids Club Elizabeth St, the focus was on supporting the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal. Families, children, and educators came together to donate food for Hampers of Hope, providing support to families experiencing financial hardship during the holiday season.
The children in the Outback room played an active role by creating a sign and decorating the donation station, fostering a sense of belonging and connection to the community. They were also supported by their educators who integrated a 25-day act of kindness advent calendar to guide and teach children the importance of giving back and demonstrating kindness.
The initiatives undertaken by Kids Club Oakdowns and Kids Club Elizabeth St showcase the incredible impact that small acts of kindness can have on the community, especially during the festive season. As we celebrate Christmas, let us be inspired by the selflessness of these young hearts and continue spreading joy, kindness, and goodwill to those around us.
Merry Christmas to all!
