Kids Club has expanded its services to Oakdowns, Tasmania. Recently renamed, Kids Club Oakdowns centre provides a welcoming environment for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years old, with an adaptable educational program designed to promote learning through play.
At Kids Club Oakdowns, the experienced Educators draw inspiration from the teachings of renowned education theorists, Lev Vygotsky and Maria Montessori. They believe that children learn best through hands-on experiences and play-based learning in a safe and nurturing environment. With this approach, children are encouraged to explore, discover, and develop a love of learning that can last a lifetime.
The indoor and outdoor learning environments at Kids Club Oakdowns are spacious and designed to stimulate creativity and imagination. The centre is purpose-built to provide a positive and engaging learning environment, where the children are encouraged to develop their skills and abilities through individualised, play-based learning, ensuring that each child’s strengths and abilities are nurtured.

Meet Chloe - Your Centre Director
Ms Chloe’s own learning journey in Early Childhood started in 2015 when she was a trainee. After lots of hard work and dedication to her craft, she eventually developed her position and became an Assistant Director. Over time, she continued to flourish and excel in her position and when an opportunity for the Centre Director position became available, she comfortably stepped up into the role and has been an amazing asset to the team ever since! Chloe has been a Centre Director for the past 3 years where she has worked alongside and been supported by a strong team of dedicated educators.
Chloe is very passionate about relationships with children, families, the team and the wider community. Her greatest motivator is to see the children develop, grow, and become confident within themselves. She aims to ensure that all members of our childcare service in Hobart, Oakdowns service feel safe, secure, trusted and respected.
Outside of the centre, you will most likely find Chloe enjoying time with her family. When speaking about her family she states that they are “my purpose and my reason“. Chloe is a mother to baby Matilda, Partner to Brayden and ‘dog mum’ to their Border Collie, Billie.

Oakdowns Early Learning Centre Activities
At Kids Club, we have certain room routines that educators follow. The routines will vary, depending on current events and activities. Having a routine in each of the rooms allows for smoother transitions into new activities, meals, and rest time. The routine is available to families so they are aware of what their child is doing at certain times.
From 7:00am
The day starts with family grouping sessions where breakfast is served. Here, you can say “see you later!” to your little one. After breakfast, your child has time to play and learn at their own pace.
From 8:30am
At this time of the morning other children are still arriving, so the educators will offer children different activities to engage in. The activities are purposefully selected to encourage our learning through the play framework.
From 9:30am
We then begin to transition into morning tea. After washing their hands your child will sit down where they choose and be served morning tea from the menu. If your child has dietary requirements they will be served an alternate meal.
From 10:30am
Depending on the weather, your child will be offered to play indoors/outdoors for free playtime. This is where educators can make observations of what your child likes to do. During this time we also hold group activities with the children.
From 12:00pm
From 12 pm we begin to transition to lunchtime. Once your child’s hands are washed they will choose a seat where a hot lunch will be served to them. If your child has dietary requirements they will be served an alternate meal.
From 12:30pm
Sleep or rest time after lunch will be given to your child. Kids will have a rest in a peaceful tranquil room with educators patting if requested. If your child does not require sleep, they will take part in quiet activities such as reading.
From 2:00pm
After your child wakes up, afternoon tea will be served. If your child has dietary requirements they will be served an alternate meal. We encourage our toddlers and preschoolers to serve themselves their own afternoon tea.
From 2:30pm
Depending on the weather, your child will be offered to play indoors/outdoors for free playtime. This is where educators can make observations of what your child likes to do and prepare for future planned experiences based on interests.
From 3:30pm
During this time, there will be planned afternoon learning experiences. We will engage your child in activities that are slightly more structured and educator-led. Common activities are yoga classes, painting lessons, group play, and group learning moments.
Oakdowns Early Learning Centre Daily Menu
All meals at Kids Club Childcare centres are freshly prepared on-site using high-quality ingredients, following Annabel Karmel’s recipes and a 4-week rotating menu. Meals are tasty, nutritious, and freshly-prepared by our qualified chefs in order to meet the daily dietary requirements of all attending children. Weekly menus are displayed outside the kitchen. We welcome your input for different recipes or cultural meals. As much as possible, we attempt to cater to individual likes and dislikes, whilst incorporating multicultural tastes and diets.
Breakfast
We encourage parents to take time to feed their children breakfast at home as it is a very important part of the child’s day. However, breakfast is provided at the centre. Breakfast is a variety of toasts, cereal and fresh milk.
Morning Tea
Morning tea offers children a wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, yoghurt, toasted melts and baked goods, as well as a selection of water or milk. In our older rooms, we encourage children to help themselves.
Lunch
Lunch often consists of a variety of cooked meals or sandwiches and a cool drink. Our onsite chefs are preparing recipes packed with plenty of nutrition whilst ensuring mealtimes are anything but bland.
Afternoon Snacks
Afternoon tea offers children a wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, yoghurt, toasted melts and baked goods, as well as a selection of water or milk. In our older rooms, we encourage children to help themselves.

Our Nursery Room
The Rainforest Room caters for babies. It provides a calm and caring home-like environment with carefully planned learning areas and their own outdoor playground.

Child-Led Education

Since 2 July 2018, Australia has a new child care package. Under the new package, the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) replaces the existing Child Care Benefit and Child Care Rebate. CCS is the main way the Government assists families with their childcare fees.

Preparing for the First Week
The transition for children into child care is an important milestone for children and families. This transition can be challenging and emotional for both the parent and the child. Therefore, we offer you this information to help the transition process.
We invite families to come for orientation the week before the children come in: stay in the centre with your child, meet the educators, and make yourself familiar with the routines prior to your child’s first day. This allows you and your children to feel more at ease and comfortable with the new environment.
