A challenging but fun craft you can do with your child is creating toilet paper roll creatures! Challenge them to make their favourite animal in tube form or create a monster that they can play with once complete!
For the toilet paper roll creatures activity you will need:
- Toilet paper tubes
- Colourful paper
- Sellotape
- Googly eyes
- Marker pens
From here, you may want to pick up a few optional decorative bits and pieces. Heres some ideas;
- Pipecleaners
- Clitter
- Feathers
- Sequins
- Pom-poms
Toilet Paper Roll Creatures, Step by Step:
Step 1: Remove as much remaining paper from the tube as possible. It doesn’t matter to much if it’s not perfect.
Step 2: Roll the tube in colourful paper, sellotape it and trim any excess from the tube. You can also sellotape the edge down if you’d like, but for the most part, if you tape it tightly enough around the tube you wont need to.
Step 3: Stick some googly eyes in place where you would like the face to be.
Step 4: From here, the creativity is really up to you!
Creature Ideas:
- Use feathers on the sides to make a bird wings. You can even make a feathery tail.
- Cut out a circular shape with zig-zag scissors on a brown piece of paper and stick it to the back of a tube to make a hedgehog.
- Fold a piece of paper and cut a 3 shape on the fold to make symmetrical butterfly wings. Use pipecleaners and pom-poms to make antenna.
