Meet Doreen, Your Centre Director

Hi, I’m Doreen and I’ve been working in the Early Childhood Education sector for over 15 years, and most recently as a service manager for the last 7 years. I hold a Diploma in Early Childhood, with a passion for supporting children’s learning and development. I have been privileged to work in partnership with families to support their children through their early years journey.

My personal philosophies derive from the importance of connection, respectful interactions with children, their families, different cultural backgrounds, and the community that surrounds us. We provide the highest quality care and education for children when we work with the families, using your input into our programs will enhance the effectiveness of what we do to support your child’s growth from the day they start. “It takes a village to raise a child” – with 2 young boys of my own I understand the trust and confidence you place in the hands of the Educators, I want to make the transition as smooth as I can, whilst building the foundation of a great relationship and connection between home and childcare.

We want to be able to support children’s learning in a caring, nurturing a responsive environment that helps them grow and develop in the early years, ensuring they have the best start to their journey into primary school. I’m very excited about our journey forward, establishing our service within the community.

Kensington Centre Activities

At Kids Club we have certain room routines that educators follow. The routine will vary, depending on current events and activities. Having a routine in each of the rooms allows for smoother transitions into new activities, meals and rest time. The routine is available to families so you are aware of what your child is doing at certain times.

From 7:30am

The day starts with family grouping sessions where breakfast is served. Here is when you can say goodbye to your little one. After breakfast, your child has time to play and learn at their own pace.

Kids Club Kensington

From 8:30am

At this time of the morning, other children are still arriving, so the educators offer children different activities to engage in. The activities are purposefully selected to encourage our learning through play framework.

"Our girl joined Kids Club Kensington early this year. We and she absolutely love it there. Every time we go it has a lovely, calm and happy vibe about it. She is happy and excited to go on her kids club days. I love that she is greeted each day by her lovely teachers and they have the consistency of the same teachers in their room everyday. At 3.5yrs she has learnt her alphabet and is learning letter recognition along with many other things to prepare her for school, she has also developed a love of Science from her teacher doing experiments. The environment is amazing with so many varied activities and learning experiences. Highly recommend kids club Kensington"

"Kids Club Kensington is such a wonderful centre! Our baby had trouble adjusting to childcare after being a covid baby and they were so patient and lovely with her that now she absolutely loves going! The centre is clean and bright and the kids do lots of different activities designed for early learning outcomes."

"We started at Kids Club Kensington when they first opened up early 2020 when my little one was 9 months old. We have been so impressed with the centre, its facilities, staff and education programs. I have watched my now 2 year old develop amazing social skills and confidence. The educators have created an interactive, colourful and engaging environment for the kids and the activities they do each day are extremely creative, diverse and fun. The food is also highly nutritious and a good variety to encourage good eating habits We appreciate the regular updates we get throughout the day and the photos to see what our daughter has been up to with her friends. I watch my daughter run into the centre happily each day and I feel confident knowing she is well looked after. We are looking forward to our youngest daughter joining the Kids Club family early next year!"

Preparing for the First Week

The transition for children into child care is an important milestone for children and families. This transition can be challenging and emotional for both the parent and the child. Therefore, we offer you this information to help the transition process.

We invite families to come for orientation the week before they start: stay in the centre with your child, meet the educators and make yourself familiar with the routines prior to your child’s first day. This assists you and your children to feel more at ease and comfortable with the new environment.
