Fishing for letters

Fishing for letters is a fun activity for your children to improve their coordination while learning how to spell. Fun ways to play involve; giving your children a word for them to find the letters or getting them to fish out random letters and make as many words from the letters as they can. Make sure that you use this opportunity to teach your kids the meanings too.

You will need
  • Scissors
  • Stick
  • Yarn
  • A magnet
  • Hot glue gun
  • Paper clips
  • Colourful paper or foam sheets
Let’s begin
  1. Cut out the paper or foam sheets into fish shapes.
  2. Write lower case letters on them.
  3. Put a small paper clip on each one.
  4. Tie a piece of yarn to the stick (making sure it is not too long or it will be hard for your child to control).
  5. Hot glue a magnet to the end of the yarn

Please remember to supervise any magnet play
