Importance of Early Learning

What is the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)?

The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is an Australian Government payment that helps eligible families reduce the cost of approved early childhood education and care.

Am I able to claim the Child Care Subsidy if I enrol at Kids Club?

All Kids Club centres are Australian Government-approved child care providers. If you are eligible for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), Centrelink will determine your subsidy, which can be applied to your child’s enrolment at any of our centres.

To estimate your out-of-pocket fees, use our online CCS Calculator.

If you need to apply for CCS or update your details, you can do this through your myGov account linked to Centrelink. For more information about the Child Care Subsidy, visit Services Australia.

How much will I be out-of-pocket after the Child Care Subsidy is applied?

Your out-of-pocket fees will depend on your individual circumstances and the amount of Child Care Subsidy (CCS) you are eligible to receive. Centrelink determines your CCS entitlement based on your family’s combined annual income and other eligibility requirements.

To estimate your out-of-pocket fees at Kids Club, use our online CCS calculator.

Please note that the calculator provides an estimate only. Your final CCS entitlement will be determined by Centrelink based on your individual circumstances.

Is there an income limit for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)?

From 2026–27, families with a combined annual income of less than $538,520 may be eligible for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS).

The amount of CCS you receive depends on your family’s combined annual income and your individual circumstances. If you were not previously eligible, or your circumstances have changed, we recommend checking your eligibility through Centrelink or your myGov account.

For the latest eligibility information, visit Services Australia.

Who can get child care subsidy services in Australia?

To be eligible for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), you must:

  • Use an Australian Government-approved child care service, such as Kids Club.
  • Be responsible for paying your child care fees.
  • Meet the Australian residency and childhood immunisation requirements.
  • Care for a child aged 13 or younger who is not attending secondary school (unless an exemption applies).

For more information about eligibility, visit the Services Australia – Who can get it page.

How do I claim for CCS?

You can apply for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) through your Centrelink online account via myGov. Before you apply, make sure your Centrelink online account is linked to your myGov account.

Once your CCS claim has been approved, you’ll also need to confirm your child’s enrolment details through Centrelink before your subsidy can be applied.

How much does it cost to send my child to a Kids Club centre?

Fees vary between Kids Club centres and depend on your child’s age, attendance pattern and your Child Care Subsidy (CCS) entitlement.

To estimate your out-of-pocket fees, use our online CCS Calculator. The calculator provides an estimate only, and your final fees will depend on your individual circumstances and the CCS determined by Centrelink.

How will my child settle in a brand new centre?

Every child settles into care differently. While some children feel comfortable straight away, others may take a little longer to adjust to their new environment and routine.

Our caring and experienced Educators work closely with each family to help every child feel safe, supported and confident as they settle into life at Kids Club. We take the time to build strong relationships with your child, helping them feel secure and at home from their very first day.

To learn more about how we support children during their transition into care, read our article.

What ages does Kids Club Child Care cater for?

Kids Club welcomes children aged 6 weeks to 5 years, subject to availability at your preferred centre.

Once your child commences formal schooling (such as primary school), they are no longer eligible to attend our long day care centres.

We encourage you to book a tour or contact your preferred Kids Club centre to discuss availability and the enrolment options for your family.

What are the centre operating hours?

All Kids Club centres operate Monday to Friday, with opening and closing times varying by location.

To view the operating hours for your preferred centre, visit your nearest Kids Club centre page.

Do the children receive meals at Kids Club?

Yes! Children at Kids Club enjoy five nutritious meals each day, freshly prepared onsite by our qualified chefs.

Our seasonal menus are designed to be age-appropriate, balanced and delicious. We work closely with families to cater for children’s individual dietary requirements, including allergies, food intolerances and cultural or religious preferences, ensuring every child can enjoy mealtimes safely.

Are nappies provided at Kids Club?

Yes! We provide nappies for all children who require them, so there’s no need to pack your own.

Our team will work with you to ensure your child’s nappy changing routine is followed, helping them stay comfortable throughout the day.

What should I pack for my child to take to childcare?

To help your child have a comfortable and enjoyable day, we recommend packing:

  • Two changes of weather-appropriate clothing
  • Two bibs (if required)
  • A comfort item, such as a favourite toy or blanket (if required)
  • A dummy in a sealed, labelled container (if required)
  • Expressed milk or bottles (if required)
  • Any required medication (please provide this directly to our team, along with the relevant medical documentation)

Please ensure all of your child’s personal belongings are clearly labelled.

When your child starts at Kids Club, they’ll receive a welcome pack, which includes:

  • Kids Club backpack
  • Kids Club t-shirt
  • Kids Club bucket hat
  • Kids Club water bottle

How is Kids Club different to other day care centres?

At Kids Club, we’re committed to providing more than just child care – we create a nurturing early learning environment where children feel safe, supported and inspired to learn every day.

Our experienced Educators deliver play-based learning programs that encourage curiosity, confidence and a lifelong love of learning. Families also enjoy a range of premium inclusions, including nutritious meals prepared by our qualified chefs, thoughtfully designed indoor and outdoor learning environments, engaging extracurricular experiences and a strong focus on building meaningful relationships with every child and family.

We invite you to book a tour and experience the Kids Club difference for yourself.

How do I enrol my child Kids Club centre?

Enrolling at Kids Club is easy. Simply book a tour, submit an enquiry, or contact our friendly Enrolments Team to discuss your family’s needs and check availability at your preferred centre.

Once you’ve visited the centre and are ready to proceed, we’ll email you the enrolment forms and guide you through the next steps. Your child’s place will then be confirmed, subject to availability.

Can I enrol for Kids Club online?

Yes! Once you’ve spoken with our Enrolments Team and are ready to proceed, we’ll email you a secure link to complete your child’s online enrolment through OWNA.

You’ll be guided through each step of the enrolment process, including completing the required forms and uploading any supporting documentation. If you need any assistance, our Enrolments Team is here to help.

Tip: For the best experience, we recommend completing your enrolment forms on a computer or laptop rather than a mobile device.

How is your waitlist managed?

Our waitlists are managed based on a range of factors, including your preferred start date, the days of care you’re seeking, your child’s age and current availability at your preferred Kids Club centre.

We understand that every family’s needs are different and will always do our best to accommodate your preferences. Our Enrolments Team will keep you informed as suitable places become available and will contact you as soon as we can offer a position.

What is the Early Years Learning Framework?

The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) is Australia’s national framework for early childhood education. It guides Educators in creating meaningful, play-based learning experiences that support children’s learning, development and wellbeing from birth to five years.

The EYLF focuses on helping children develop confidence, independence, communication skills, social and emotional wellbeing and a lifelong love of learning. It also recognises the important role that families play in every child’s learning journey.

At Kids Club, our educational programs are guided by the EYLF to ensure every child has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive in a safe, nurturing environment.

What is the National Quality Standards?

The National Quality Standard (NQS) sets the benchmark for quality education and care across Australia. It helps ensure that early learning services provide children with safe, engaging and high-quality learning environments.

The NQS is made up of seven quality areas that assess how early learning services support children’s learning, development and wellbeing:

  • Educational Program and Practice
  • Children’s Health and Safety
  • Physical Environment
  • Staffing Arrangements
  • Relationships with Children
  • Collaborative Partnerships with Families and Communities
  • Governance and Leadership

At Kids Club, our programs and practices are guided by the National Quality Standard, helping us provide high-quality early learning experiences where every child can learn, grow and thrive.

To learn more about how our Seven Educational Pillars align with the National Quality Standard, click here.

What is a School Readiness Program?

A School Readiness Program helps children develop the skills, confidence and independence they need for a positive transition to primary school.

Being ready for school is about much more than age. It includes developing communication and language skills, early literacy and numeracy, social and emotional confidence, problem-solving, independence and both fine and gross motor skills.

At Kids Club, our School Readiness Program is designed to nurture the whole child through engaging, play-based learning experiences that prepare children not only for their first day of school, but for a lifelong love of learning.

Why is early childhood education important in Australia?

The early years of a child’s life are a critical time for learning, development and wellbeing. High-quality early childhood education provides children with opportunities to build confidence, develop social and emotional skills, strengthen communication and foster a lifelong love of learning through play-based experiences.

Research shows that positive early learning experiences can have a lasting impact on a child’s future learning, health and wellbeing. By supporting children’s development during these important early years, early childhood education helps build a strong foundation for success at school and beyond.

At Kids Club, our play-based learning programs are designed to nurture each child’s individual strengths, interests and potential, helping them grow into confident, capable learners.

What is the difference between 'Childcare' and 'early learning'?

Although the terms are often used interchangeably, there is an important difference between child care and early learning.

Child care focuses on providing a safe, nurturing environment where children are cared for while their parents or guardians are at work or otherwise unavailable. Early learning builds on this by providing intentional, play-based educational experiences that support children’s learning, development and wellbeing.

At Kids Club, we believe children are learning from the moment they are born. Our Educators create engaging experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, confidence and independence while supporting each child’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development.

In other words, at Kids Club we don’t just care for children, we help them learn, grow and thrive through meaningful early learning experiences.
