It’s perhaps the most exciting time of the year for children: Christmas!
When you’re in the childcare business like we are, embracing the seasonal festivities and providing themed activities that teach and inspire the children in our care is essential. Yet, with special occasions like Christmas, our team often likes to go to extra lengths to create something truly memorable for our kids beyond the usual. That’s exactly what our Kids Club centres recently did by inviting everyone in their community to join their end of year Christmas Spectacular celebrations!
It might be easier to ask what we didn’t do at our Christmas Spectacular!
There was SO much on offer across our Kids Club centres for our children to enjoy.
Kids Club Macquarie Park kicked off the end of year celebrations with their annual Christmas party, sporting a petting zoo, a jumping castle, Mr Whippy and even a visit from Santa!
Parmoon, our acting Director at Kids Club Macquarie Park shared that each centre looks to throw a grand end of year celebration to celebrate the year that was, often inspired to create their very own Christmas carnival theme, with this year at Macquarie Park themed ‘The Grinch.’
Kids Club Clarence St are known to throw some amazing parties! The children loved the face-painting fairies, who transformed many beautiful designs onto faces and caused lots of smiles. They also had a visit from Santa’s elves who had a dance off, played games and of course, thrilled the audience with giant bubbles!
Kids Club Gosford celebrated their first Christmas party in absolute style! The children and families clearly enjoyed the Christmas disco, the popcorn machine, and the Christmas craft station, but the biggest hit was the face painting and cookie decorating!
Families and children all gathered to get crafty together with their cookie decorating where we saw all kinds of creations, everything from festive snowmen to a Santa!
Friendships begin to bloom from an early age and are an essential to a child’s development while providing a sense of belonging. On occasions like our Christmas Spectacular, it is heart-warming to see the children with their families and playing with their Kids Club’s friends. We had many a child see a friend, run over to them and give them a huge hug before excitedly dashing to the next attraction.
From our babies to our pre-schoolers, all Kids Club children learn to form strong relationships with their peers. While it’s such an important skill to learn, it is not one that comes naturally to everyone. This is why our curriculum at Kids Club is so successful, allowing us to focus on developing social and emotional skills to influence a child’s mental health and well-being. The Kids Club educators are “in tune” with the children’s needs and also their signals, helping to guide each child’s behaviour for a positive result.
Developing friendships can be challenging for some children who need a little more time than others. By hosting centre events such as our Christmas carnival, children gain more experience in forming the skills needed to feel comfortable with their peers. Kids Club educators also know that friendships play a big part in academic achievement in their formal schooling years. It’s through social interactions that children learn to communicate effectively to acquire knowledge and skills, such as cooperation, negotiating, conflict resolution, listening and even different ways of thinking.
There is no childcare Christmas without a visit from Santa!
Across our centres, there was ample of excitement as children clapped and squealed with glee when Santa arrived. Some children were quick to run over to Santa for a cuddle and were eager to ask him questions and place their requested gift orders! Santa took his time with the children, engaging in chats, handing out presents and making sure all questions were answered and of course, posing for photos!
There really was something for everyone at our childcare Christmas Carnival. Our grown-up family members taking part in fun competitions, especially at Kids Club Elizabeth St, where families partook in lucky door prizes, and guessing games!
Families were also invited to create their own Gingerbread house kits, enjoy craft activities alongside their little ones and enjoy the scrumptious feasts that our Chefs put on!
