Corporate Social Responsibility

Why Be Socially Responsible?

As a business that is focused on helping develop the next generation of future community members, Kids Club has three main areas for Corporate Social Responsibility; environmental, social and corporate. We are an organisation that prides itself on leading by example, and our programs are designed to reach all areas of our business to positively impact as many people as we can. This helps to ensure that our teams, families and children are all agents for positive change while helping develop our children into global minded, world changing citizens.

Environmental Sustainability

Corporate Social Responsibility - Environmental Practices - Vegetable Garden

At Kids Club we have a multi-pronged approach to addressing issues around our environment and sustainability. Not only do we have appropriate waste management policies in place and adopt programs such as Earth Hour, but we also design and build our centres in a way that fosters a unique focus on teaching sustainable practices to our children. From recycled scrapped vehicles and boats turned into amazing playscapes, secondhand vintage displays, vegetable gardens and composting areas in our centres, to environmental programs and education on food waste; all of our children and team here are constantly finding ways to innovate, learn and apply that knowledge to the centres practices to ensure that green principles are being adopted. These unique experiences give children the hands on learning opportunities to develop a deeper understanding about how their footprint impacts local environments across flora and fauna.

Sustainability Management Plan

Our Sustainability Management Plan extends across our entire business, from our Support Office to our centres. While we are constantly finding ways to innovate and minimise our environmental impact, we have a standard set of guidelines that we apply across our business which focus on the following areas:

We have developed a sustainability management plan, where by we manage the following:

Minimise the use of energy and water consumption across our Support Office and Centres, including rain water traps for use in gardening,

Recycling programs across our Centres and Support Office in areas accessible to families and to staff that encourage greener principles.

Waste management of consumables that focus on encouraging the reuse of materials and resources back into the learning environment.

Non-toxic products used to ensure minimal environmental impacts while providing a safe learning and working  environment for children and staff.

Vegetable and Flower Gardens that encourage children to learn how to grow, respect, protect and cultivate flora in their daily lives.

Composting Stations designed to help cultivate good soil within our garden areas, while also minimising waste that would go to landfill.

Communicate with local community and families on environment impacts that matter to them so that we can adopt these to our learning principles.

Participation and engagement in conservation activities and programs such as wildlife programs and energy minimisation practices.

Amazing playscapes built from recycled materials and secondhand goods that would otherwise be discarded and relegated to waste.

At Kids Club we are always making green changes and we love to hear from our communities and families as to how they think we can better our green practices. If you have a program you would like to discuss, please approach your Centre Director for more information.

Social Responsibility

At Kids Club we have a desire to give back to our wider communities. Working with different groups, our Centres provide not only fun and engaging programs, but also meaningful ones that are designed to educate the families and children on varying aspects of our community and social responsibility to those around us. All of these programs are designed to ensure that the children understand what it is that they are giving back to and have specifically designed programs to help them become conscious of the value that they can create in giving back to our local and global communities.

Economic Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility Kids Club Economic Sustainability Support Office

All Kids Club Centres are supported by a centralised Support Office, located in Sydney, NSW. The purpose and core responsibility of this team is to provide practices which underpin the ongoing success of the business through continuous improvement plans.

One of the core areas of ACECQA’s National Quality Standards is Corporate Governance. Kids Club takes this NQS area very seriously across all of its centres, but as a foundational area on which our National Support Office is built. Through developing appropriate management systems and providing financial modelling, the business is coordinated through this structure to provide a viable and long-term success model.

Our focus to Economic Sustainability is underpinned by focusing the organisations Management Team into the following areas:

  • Continuous improvement
  • Robust management systems
  • Technologies that support growth and enhance operations
  • Ongoing risk management and analysis
  • Professional development of staff
  • Sourcing local products and suppliers
  • Working with local businesses for shared economic benefit
